19xx TippCo Standard, Standard Serial # none 19xx TippCo Standard, Standard typewriter, Serial # none Kewin Sanfridsson's 19xx TippCo Standard, Standard typewriter. 2024-05-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kewin Sanfridsson: 19xx TippCo Standard, Standard Serial # none Here we got something less professional and more of a novelty typewriter, a TippCo Standard, Standard. A typewriter for children from the 1950-60s made in western Germany. I have actually tried to get a hold of one of these for some time because it looked to simple yet so interesting. It is also in such a good condition! I tried writing with it, for what it is and how it is constructed it's not bad. The typeface looks pretty nice to, nothing to maybe write home about (sorry for the pun xD) but perfectly ok in my eyes and easy for children to read if I had to guess correctly. I would have loved to post a typeface specimen but the ribbon is dry like a desert almost.

I have written down and also translated what the instruction says on the back for your enjoyment! (With some help from uncle google.)
German:

4 Wagen Zurückfahren: Zwischenraumtaste Niederdrücken. Der Wagen Kann Dann Nach Links BZW. Rechts Bewegt Werden.
English:
1 Paper: Clamp the sheet of paper onto the back of the carriage.
2 Writing: Turn the dial until the desired letter is under the pointer, then press the write button.
3 Space: Press the space button. (Smaller button under the write button)
4 Moving the carriage back: Press the space button. The carriage can then be moved to the left or right.

I found a very interesting article of these toy typewriters written by oz.Typewriter which was very interesting. I recommend giving it a read.

So I hope it is ok to post this typewriter too here on TWDB as I seen a few other vintage toy typewriters on here.

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 24 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 80* of them (3 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the TippCo Standard, Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the TippCo Serial Number page and the TippCo Standard, Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
