Description:
A beautifully preserved Sabb.
At this point, I would like to correct a mistake which runs through ALL OF THE INTERNET. The producer was not "S.A. Brevetta Brassa", as stated in Ernst Martin 1949, p. 317, but S.A. Brevetti Brasa.
The name of engineer Italo (first name) Brasa (family name) can be found in some of the patents availble (Italian patents still longing to be scanned...). Also, "Soc. An. BREVETTI BRASA-MILANO" is actually written on the machine shown, front frame. The letters have vanished, but can be seen in hard light.
So, the company SABB is named after Italo Braso, meaning company (societĂ anonyma) for the exploitation of the Brasa patents (brevetto = letter patent in Italian). Everybody just blindly copied the Ernst Martin source. As a historian, I say: NO. Please check your sources.
It is in perfect working order and I found it fit to put a blue ribbon (although technically, a two-colour ribbon would be in order).

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sabb Sabb on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sabb Serial Number page and the Sabb Sabb By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
