1998 Smith Corona Memory Correct 200 Serial # 1MCG1110777 1998 Smith Corona Memory Correct 200 typewriter, Serial # 1MCG1110777 Pamela Self's 1998 Smith Corona Memory Correct 200 typewriter. 2025-06-14 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Pamela Self: 1998 Smith Corona Memory Correct 200 Serial # 1MCG1110777 This is a Memory Correct 200. It has color coordinating stickers for someone learning touch-type. Came with a case, dust cover, two printwheels, and a graphic showing how to type. A manual is very hard to find, and so I used the 300-400 manual. The memory correct 200 could remember a line of your text and you could backspace to a misspelled word and press correct to have the typewriter erase each letter automatically. Eventually the 300 and 400 model could be used as a printer for a personal computer with the addition of the Messenger Module.

I grew up with a Selectric next to the computer. Sometimes I would just turn it on to hear the motor hum. Fast forward a few decades and I rediscovered my love of typewriters. My brother-in-law heard me talk about all the typewriters I saw but couldn’t afford and found a free electronic Brother in a family member’s attic. Didn’t have the heart to tell him how ugly it was, and I did love it just the same. Then I figured out eBay and online auctions and it was all down hill from there. I’ve even bought machines while on vacation and had them shipped home! All the kids are grown up except the youngest so soon we will be downsizing the house and I figured it was time to start taking inventory and selling machines that are collecting dust.
