1995 Hercules (Flying Fish/KOFA) Hero 920 Serial # 92239034 1995 Hercules (Flying Fish/KOFA) Hero 920 typewriter, Serial # 92239034 Gerard Shen's 1995 Hercules (Flying Fish/KOFA) Hero 920 typewriter. 2020-08-15 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Gerard Shen: 1995 Hercules (Flying Fish/KOFA) Hero 920 Serial # 92239034 A 1990s Hero Model 920, made in Shanghai China with no pride at all. Mostly likely built in 1995 according to the original receipt that came with this machine. They are essentially the same as Flying Fish 200 or Hero 140 and a cheap copy of German Adler Tippa. Unlike the early models, they have a REPEAT SPEACER and PRE-SET 5-SPACE TAB. It has a Pica typeface but slightly different from the earlier version. Based on my observation, these two particular PICA typefaces are only used on Chinese typewriters.

You also want one of these? Nooooooooooo! They are terrible terrible machines. When typed on, spaces are skipped for no reason, alignment is forever terrible, print is never neat. Snappy? Forget it! Typing experience is awful....... I think they set the new record of how shoddy a typewriter can be--since the entire typewriter industry has already come to an end, so we can make that kind of judgement now. Their sheer existence makes the We R Memory Keeper typewriters look like angels! I cannot even find a serial number on the machine. So unless you are a serious collector, who's keen to figure out how horrible a typewriter can be, just ignore them! They are among the garbage that China ONCE made which result in the Made-in-China image crisis even to this day!

To add some salt to injury---Now it is time for all good men and women to come to laugh at this shoddy machine.

Hi, I'm a typewriter enthusiast from Shanghai, China. In a period of 20 years, I have collected more than 100 machines. My interest in typewriter started when I was 11 years old (1989) when China started to deepen its opening-up to the outside world. Hence local stationary started to sell manual typewriters
