Description:
Being a later incarnation of Olivetti Lettera 35, the Italia 90 is a cast aluminum typewriter with a snappy and stable typing action. Behind this specific shade of azure is an interesting back story- this machine was one of the special edition typewriters at the Olivetti-sponsored Press Center for the 1990 FIFA World Cup hosted by Italy. Azure, of course, is the color of team Italia.
Now if only I could get used to the Italian QZERTY keyboard.

In a parallel universe, I was once the Senior Vice-President of Design (Typewriter Division) at Ing. C. Olivetti & C.,S.p.A., Ivrea, Italy. In the real universe, I'm a Chicago-based casual collector and hunter of Olivetti typewriters, and related ephemera, publications, and film sightings.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Italia 90 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Italia 90 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
