1990 Facit (Nakajima) 9400 Serial # 035-0097 1990 Facit (Nakajima) 9400 typewriter, Serial # 035-0097 Kewin Sanfridsson's 1990 Facit (Nakajima) 9400 typewriter. 2024-08-24 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kewin Sanfridsson: 1990 Facit (Nakajima) 9400 Serial # 035-0097 Here we got something out of the ordinary. I would even almost consider to be worthy enough to count as a museum piece, at least a Facit museum if there would have existed one. It's a Facit 9400 but not any ol' 9400 but a anniversary edition version.
It has a golden plaque on the front stating "Facit Jubileumsskrivmaskin NR,97/100 Utgåva i samband med produktionen av Facit 6-moljonte kontorsskrivmaskin 1990." which translates roughly to "Facit Anniversary Typewriter NR.97/100 Edition in conjunction with the production of Facit 6 million office typewriter 1990.".

This is such a cool thing to have acquired as Facit is my absolute favorite typewriter brand! The black finish is awesome as well because I believe the 9400 only came in office beige with turns into the beautiful yellow-ish patina we all know and love so much. It works flawlessly even though it have been sitting around unused for two decades. And there are only a few small finishing damages and a chipping in the back left bottom corner in the plastic otherwise it's in beautiful condition even the patting inside of the typewriter have not disintegrated yet! Also the dust cover is in excellent condition and I also got the original manual in Swedish so that's also nice!

*A fellow user here on TWDB helped me figure out the date so many thanks!*
This anniversary edition Facit was made in the 35 week of 1990 (around the end of august 1990).
This is because of how Nakajima numbered them in production. Facit didn't actually make them, they only put their brand on it so to speak. Nakajima made these for Facit in other words. This was a common business practice during this time but I have stumbled upon this even further back. This was a way to gain more profit as it was cheaper to outsource production than to do it in house.

I hope this is as much of a treat for you all to see as it was for me when I first laid my eyes on this beautiful piece of Facit history and information.

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 24 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 80* of them (3 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!
