Description:
The last Smith Corona typebar? The ad is for 1986 and there aren't many left. Most are for the carriage shifted, Singapore built machine, also called the Correction Electric iii.
This is a Coronamatic 2200 reverted to standard spools. Gone are the cover release levers and this one is screwed in place. There is a 2200 in the DB gallery with a 8ELE SN and this is a 8ELF, so a dumbed-down 2200 it is.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Correction Electric III on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Correction Electric III By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
