198X Smith Corona Coronamatic 2500 Serial # 9ELB 287646 198X Smith Corona Coronamatic 2500 typewriter, Serial # 9ELB 287646 Daniel Burgoyne's 198X Smith Corona Coronamatic 2500 typewriter. 2022-07-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Daniel Burgoyne: 198X Smith Corona Coronamatic 2500 Serial # 9ELB 287646 Found locally in Gatineau, Québec, in a fantastic condition with a new carbon film cartridge. It typed as if it had been used recently. The rubber on the platen is still soft. This machine originally belonged to a Catholic priest who used it for his duties and personal use. It was later gifted to a niece who used it in college and university.

This electric typewriter uses Coronamatic cartridges with nylon or carbon film ribbons. Corrector tape comes in its own separate cartridge that is swapped for the ribbon cartridge. It types fast and effortlessly with a lovely and clear Pica 10 cpi type.

Model with datecode CA40423, made in Canada with a QWERTY Canada French keyboard, half-spacing key and keyset tabulator. This bilingual keyboard is convenient for switching between English and French typing. This model has the best keyboard feel of all my electric typewriters.

This is a full featured portable typewriter with a 12-inch platen, paper bail with convenient arrow markers for centering paper, single to triple line spacing with halfs in-between, one-shot paper injector, and, adjustable touch and type print. This machine also feeds envelopes and cards without any issue. A joy to use when you have to get work done in English and French.

Unfortunately, in a moment of absent mindedness, I broke the plastic paper rest that is showing in the up position on the main photo. I bought another non-working 2500 in the same colour just to get the paper holder and now I have a parts machine to spare.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.

Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.

Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
