Description:
This is a massive, heavy Olympia SG3. It is made in Mexico, and comes from some kind of office. It has a cutout in the platen, as if designed to take very thick card of very specific dimensions, and no lower case letters! On the other hand, it does have keys for Dollar, Pounds Sterling, Francs and Deutschmarks. So from a financial institution of some kind. It is very nice condition, though, as is common for the SG3, without the paper stand.
I found the number 6912170 on the rail and on the chassis. I think this makes it early 1980s.
It works very nicely, but is of doubtful use outside its clearly very specific context.
If you look at the pics, you can see the rebate in the platen.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SG3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SG3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
