198X Maritsa 30 Serial # 31026872 198X Maritsa 30 typewriter, Serial # 31026872 Elisa Makoon-Singh's 198X Maritsa 30 typewriter. 2025-05-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Elisa Makoon-Singh: 198X Maritsa 30 Serial # 31026872 This typewriter is named after the Maritsa River in Bulgaria which flows through the city of Plovdiv, where the Typewriters Works manufacturing plant was located.

This was sent to me from a shop in Spain. You can tell by the keyboard that it was made specifically for the Spanish market in España, as it includes a "Pts" key which was the currency back then. The "peseta" was of course made obsolete by the introduction of the euro around 1999.

Thanks to the "Pts" key, I consider this Bulgarian machine my most auténtico español of my Spanish typers. Currency symbol. No apostrophe (but you make an apostrophe by doing the accent symbol and a space)

I love to write and found that writing on a typewriter is the most enjoyable and distraction-free way of doing it. I started with an Alphasmart, then moved to a Royalite, then to an Olympia SM5. The Olympia kept me fully satisfied for a good seven years until I got the bit by the collecting bug. Now I am slowly amassing my own personal typewriter museum. Typewriters are like personal printing presses. My partner is an engineer who can fix and clean any typewriter, so we make a great team.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Maritsa 30 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Maritsa Serial Number page and the Maritsa 30 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
