Description:
Found this beauty at, of all places, an estate sale, after months of searching for a Typestar 5, the (then) ideal thermal machine in my opinion. For only $20, it came with the original manual and a healthy amount of spare ribbon cassettes in a laptop bag, a perfect storage vessel. She types like a dream and prints perfectly, but the line space motor or the gears associated with it are stuck, so she doesn't space properly, if at all. Because of this I named her Karen, pronounced the Japanese way because Canon is, of course, a Japanese company.
I found another Typestar 5 on eBay for only $5 more and with a fully functional line spacer, so I've decided to part ways with this beauty.

I'm a relatively new collector hunting for anything inexpensive that I can get my hands on, functionality being a second thought. I have to learn somehow, right!?
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Canon Typestar 5 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Canon Serial Number page and the Canon Typestar 5 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
