198x Canon AP700 Serial # S25114073 198x Canon AP700 typewriter, Serial # S25114073 Ibrahim Jitan's 198x Canon AP700 typewriter. 2024-11-04 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Ibrahim Jitan: 198x Canon AP700 Serial # S25114073 This is a bilingual standard electric typewriter, which has Daisy Wheel functionality. I currently have an english daisy wheel and an Arabic one, both of which came with the typewriter. The English daisy wheel is missing the capital Z and capital D, as for the Arabic daisy wheel it is missing the ء.

This machine offers different options such as underlined text, bold text, Pica and Elite spacing, tabulator system, and lift off tape for mistakes. You can see the different options on the left side of the keyboard. There are other keys that I haven't figured out their purpose yet.

I blew out some dust and it was working beautifully again. The right knob is broken but it sits in place nicely for the eyes.

This machine was a workhorse at my grandfather's translation center back in the 90's, it has served its purpose in translating official documents and later on filling printed forms, you know when printers were invented.

EDIT: I have sold this typewriter to a fellow collector.

I have recently grown interested in typewrites as I found a couple at my grandfather's office, accompanied by my writing hobby; you can say I unlocked a new world.

I am keen on collecting and trying different typewriters.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Canon AP700 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Canon Serial Number page and the Canon AP700 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
