Description:
This is a quite perfect Olivetti ETV 240 with floppy drive for storing written works. When it was built in the mid-1980s, it was a very expensive machine and intended for large offices or public administrations, certainly not for domestic use. The ETV240 also features a 12-inch monochromatic white phosphor screen. At the time it was the perfect link between nascent PCs and old typewriters.
You could write dozens and dozens of pages, without printing, changed and corrected and only when you were satisfied with the final result did you print, save and archive your letters.

I am an italian typewriter collector and a great enthusiast of both mechanical and electrical Olivetti. In my collection I also have other brands and of different ages. Very often I buy cheap non-functioning machines and then I dedicate myself to their restoration.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti ETV 240 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti ETV 240 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
