Description:
Acquired in a chance meeting, this is practically mint and works very well. Though it came without a power supply (7.5 V, 7.5W, center negative), it also runs on 5 D cells. Quiet, of course.
As usual with these later electronic typewriters, it has way more features than it is worth the trouble to learn. And yet it is quite easy to learn just from the labels on the keyboard.
The EP7 seems more uncommon than the EP5. The EP7 has significantly more features: 4K Memory storage and recall, 60K Spelling Dictionary, Auto Carriage Return, Auto Centering, Right Margin Flush, and maybe some others. I don't know how to use the Store/Print, Add/ Delete, and Repeat keys. The diacritics on keys Q through T are dead keys, which threw me off for a minute. The Calculator normally prints your equation in-line; I don't yet know whether it will ignore CR within the calculation string so I can add a column of numbers.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother EP-7 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother EP-7 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
