1986 Canon Typestar 5 Serial # 642048895 1986 Canon Typestar 5 typewriter, Serial # 642048895 Jack B's 1986 Canon Typestar 5 typewriter. 2024-09-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jack B: 1986 Canon Typestar 5 Serial # 642048895 This small electronic is the tiniest machine in my collection. It is fun to use, and it only has the basics- no spellcheck, etc.

I am always irritated by people calling electronic "wedges" as cheap pieces of plastic, useless machines, paperweights. Like it or not, these are an important part of typewriter history. I choose to respect them, because they are no more obsolete than a Underwood 5 or Corona 3 to a normal person.

Because of how much disdain is directed towards these, paired with the poor manufacturing materials could mean in a few decades wedges could be uncommon. Rare, even.

{update}

After leafing through the manual I have finally found the "typewriter mode" that allows one to print character after character instead of typing a sentence and pressing enter. So, I guess this can now officially be called "typewriter" instead of "keyboard with printer attached".
