Description:
The AX series are the first of the wedge machines ca 1985. A huge price drop from the EM-1/2 models, which are marketed as inexpensive alternatives to the Selectric III. They also come in under the price point of the first word processor, the WP-1 / WP-500 . Brother also as the typeball machines. Things are in flux to say the least.
This has AX-12 model code on the back and "Student Riter II" on the cover. This may have fewer features than the AX-12 identified as such on the cover.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother AX-12 Student-Riter II on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother AX-12 Student-Riter II By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
