Description:
Found at a church rummage sale with its original serial-number matched packaging box, it really was almost unused---which makes it really puzzling as to why the @-over-¢ slug is so badly soldered on and doesn’t even make contact with the paper. My fix should involve replacing the typebar rather than trying to fix the soldering, but, jeez, just try to find a junk Brother JP-1.... There ain’t any.
The box is interesting, too. We learn that this Brother color is called “Dull Sky”. And the instructions on the box include: “Do Not Drop” [OK] and “Stow Away From Boiler” [OK, OK].

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
