1982 Royal Jubilee Serial # 20129020 1982 Royal Jubilee typewriter, Serial # 20129020 LaDonna Qualtieri's 1982 Royal Jubilee typewriter. 2024-03-01 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of LaDonna Qualtieri: 1982 Royal Jubilee Serial # 20129020 RAINBOW BRITE vibes! The carriage knob silver-tone covers came off. I found one lodged near the clamshell ā€œhingeā€- it made opening the case very difficult. I have yet to find the other one but I suspect it could be inhibiting operation of this new-looking machine. It powers on and the keys work. The carriage catches near the center. Carriage return is intermittent and sluggish. Please let me know if Iā€™m in the correct Royal category.
Note: I am assuming this is also referred to as a Jubilee 10 (although it is not exteriorly noted with the model name) simply because there is a wider carriage model called ā€œJubilee 12.ā€

New ribbon/spools foolishly purchased before testing the machine. Oh well! See the residual glue on the carriage knob? The radio dial looking cap is inside this machine somewhere!

I have many pen pals and correspond via handwritten and typed letters. I have a (painful) sitting disability and type while standing- UPDATE! I can also type on an ultraportable I set up on my bed. Typing and collecting machines with different typefaces keeps me busy and happily distracted from the difficulties in life-fountain pens, too, and I can write legibly, in cursive, while laying down. Join me on Type Pals and register for the monthly postcard exchanges. The ā€œCat Mewsā€ is a quarterly publication of the philatelic topical group Cats On Stamps Study Unit (COSSU), for which I am a column contributor. My cats are Wiffle Wizard and Urushi (Rushi) Blizzard, aka the Blizzard Sisters.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Jubilee on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Jubilee By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
