1981 Triumph Junior 12 Serial # 14194087 1981 Triumph Junior 12 typewriter, Serial # 14194087 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1981 Triumph Junior 12 typewriter. 2022-08-26 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1981 Triumph Junior 12 Serial # 14194087 These typewriters may be not very glamourous, but they are competent enough. For people who want to start using a typewriter, I'd say these inexpensive, fairly common machines are a good choice. As with many Japanese typewriters, there's a good balance between quality and price, which at this point translates into availability. You'll probably find one of these at a good price with little to no effort, and you'll get a decent typing experience. Not as flawless as typing on a Olympia SG3 or as rewarding as on an Adler 7 or as hideously fast as on an Olivetti ET 2200, but good enough to get the hang of it. There are better "gateway" machines, but these also deserve some attention.

As for this unit in particular, it was made in Japan, sold in Valladolid (as can be seen on the dealer stikcker) and donated here in Cogeces del Monte after little use by their former owners.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
