Type 670X. I note a separate listing for a Model 670X in the database (without serial number specified). Is that based on this sticker, which presumably just indicates the series, not a specific model?

I didn't previously have any particular interest in typewriters until I bought an IBM Selectric III. I used to work at IBM and still have a bit of a soft spot for the company, some of its older products and its contributions to the modern world. The machine seemed so solid, so we'll engineered and I loved the retro aesthetic, I had to have it. It appears to be in good working order, but I want to learn enough about it to give it a thorough service, as it clearly hasn't had one for a long time. I'm not short of hobbies, but there is a risk this leads to a new one...

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Correcting Selectric III on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Correcting Selectric III By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
