1980 Sears The Communicator with Correction Serial # 0701344X 1980 Sears The Communicator with Correction typewriter, Serial # 0701344X Jacob OBoyle's 1980 Sears The Communicator with Correction typewriter. 2023-01-09 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jacob OBoyle: 1980 Sears The Communicator with Correction Serial # 0701344X Found this machine in the shed at the estate sale of a closed thrift store in an old church. That's one heck of a Russian nesting doll of locations.
This machine was likely left out in the extremes for a long time and is a rather sad little dude because of it. He took some encouragement to get moving, literally; I rotated the belts by hand and got it to return properly. He still has a few issues, but I've decided to sell him to someone who wants a wonderfully sculpted plastic 80s writing machine. I have enough as is.

Under the ribbon cover - I'd like to add here how I hate typewriter manufacturers including "with correction" as if it were some miracle invention. It's a bichrome ribbon selector. ACT LIKE IT! CORRECTION RIBBONS SUCK ANYWAY!

Information plate, including Brother-style serial number, curious as I'm pretty sure this is a Royal rebadge

Side profile - I love the engles of this typewriter, I just wish it was a better machine, then I might have kept it.

Ahh, those 80s lines, almost makes up for the beige. I got two machines at that estate sale I mentioned in the description, this and a similarly dated Adler Meteor, and I decided to name them after world leaders. This one is therefore Reagan, a rather fitting name for a beige and rundown but still working typewriter. It is The Communicator after all.

I'm a relatively new collector hunting for anything inexpensive that I can get my hands on, functionality being a second thought. I have to learn somehow, right!?
