Description:
I set out today to purchase this machine from a woman on Facebook market, however when I arrived and produced the money she told me it was free. I was so completely and utterly blindsided that all I could utter was a very small and high pitched "why?" and so she said that she had seen my facebook profile and thought I should have it. I blinked dazedly and asked "why" again in the same really high pitched voice. I was honestly very confused and didn't know what to say, so she explained again and her husband poked his head out from behind the door and nodded at me while smiling and so I looked down at the typewriter and picked it up and said very softly "well... if you insist then... have a good night..." and walked down the drive way to my car. Only after I'd driven down the street did it hit me and I drove home and messaged her apologizing for being so strange and probably rude and thanked her for her act of kindness. She replied and explained that it was her husbands late Uncle's typewriter and she was glad I was the person who got it. All in all it was a very odd experience. lol
Now to the nitty gritty of the machine, sadly it's not a very good typewriter. It's alignment is horrid and it doesn't really feel all that nice to type on. I know people will probably lynch me for saying this but I honestly think my We-R machine is a better more pleasant typewriter. lol For a Royal this thing has some very odd choices also, main of which is the back space being on the left instead of the right like it is on every other Royal I've ever owned. It also has a thing called Magic Column, which I assume is a Tab but why in the world is it called something so odd? lol The feel of the machine is kinda heavy but not in a good way, it feels a bit odd. To be honest though that may have to do with the fact that it was a little gummed up when I got it so I shot the basket with some Rainbow Multi Purpose Lubricant and that freed the strikers right up. Not really anything odd though since most machines I get I have to lube up a little.

I am a mechanical engineering student with a fascination for antiques, I bought my first typewriter when I was in 6th or 7th grade. It was a very beat-up and dejected Remington Noiseless Model 7 and it only cost me 5$ since I was the only one at the auction interested in it. Since then I have sold it (and happen to know it is sitting in an antique shop) but my love for typewriters has never waned.
Since then my interests have spread to vintage computers and other electronics and I have obtained many interesting things. I now own 3 typewriters, but I am always looking for more and those sleek portables of the 1940's and 50's always catch my eye.
