Description:
I found this machine on shop goodwill.com for $11 plus shipping and handling for a total of $42. Goodwill is always a gamble because of shipping concerns. It's a good thing the machine had a molded plastic case, as the machine was "packed" in a cardboard box with a few air pillows and barely held together to my home. I once read that the Olympia Report de Luxe was one of the best electric type-bar typewriters from the 1970's, and now having one, I can believe it. It needed a new ribbon, and types well. Motor is very quiet, but typing is noisy, as are all of my type-bar electrics. The machine needs little beyond a good cleaning. The red ribbon setting doesn't work, so I'll have to sort that out. Olympia put SCM to shame in the 1970's. Typeface is pica, which is a disappointment, but it's a very readable typeface nonetheless.

Retired industrial designer, now serving as a pastor. I have a collection of about 75 machines. I specialize in portables, and have only a few electric machines. In my opinion, typewriters and bicycles are the best examples of the man-machine interface. I live in SW Washington State, USA.
