Description:
I picked up this blue Smith Corona Electra 220 Automatic at a Salvation Army store in February, 2018 for $19.99. Judging from the serial number and some other galleries on this site, I am guessing it's a 1970, but as I'm not positive, I'm marking it 197X.
As it was sold "as-is," I was worried about the condition, but after plugging it in and "taking it for a test drive," I think it's in pretty fair condition. As far as I can tell, there are no major defects that need repaired, but I'm looking forward to getting it back into a cleaner condition.
A typeface specimen will be provided once I picked up a new ribbon-- the one that came in it is so old and used, you can hardly see the ink.

Having been an enthusiastic writer since childhood, I have always had a soft-spot for typewriters. However, it wasn't until recently that I have started purchasing them, collecting them, and hopefully learning how to repair them.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Electra 220 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Electra 220 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
