197x Smith Corona Coronet Electric 12 Serial # 6ELJ240959W 197x Smith Corona Coronet Electric 12 typewriter, Serial # 6ELJ240959W Chris Floren's 197x Smith Corona Coronet Electric 12 typewriter. 2022-06-05 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Chris Floren: 197x Smith Corona Coronet Electric 12 Serial # 6ELJ240959W I think this is a 1971 machine based on advertisements I could find, and from comparing the serial number across other SCM models from the late '60s - early '70s. Gotta love the brown, mocha, & simu-wood color scheme. The keys and other white plastic bits have faded to an off-white cream color which complements the mocha plastic quite nicely. Named Ron Burgundy, mostly because it smells of rich mahogany (and it's kind of a big deal).

For the drive belts I used o-rings from McMaster-Carr, part no. 9557K238. These are EPDM rubber, "dash no." 239, durometer 70A (medium hardness), and the measurements are below.

Fractional:
Width 1/8"
ID 3 5/8"
OD 3 7/8"

Actual:
Width 0.139"
ID 3.609"
OD 3.887"
