Description:
One of my four SCM 6 series electrics, this one by far the best looking. I love the color scheme of blue with aqua, white keys (which haven’t yellowed) and the wood grain panel. It types great except the tab feature is not functional. It just advances the carriage one space with each press and there is no way to clear them.

I grew up with a fascination and deep appreciation for mechanical business machines. Mid-century typewriters, cash registers and adding machines. To appreciate the magic of these devices and the synergy of gears, springs and levers working together in perfect harmony is quite beautiful and an understated marvel of engineering and quality workmanship that has produced products that work exactly as intended for decades and even a century after they were produced. This is something that doesn’t exist in today’s world. My small collection (currently 14) consists of mainly portables, ultra-portables and a few Smith Corona 6 series electrics, which I use for amateur writing projects.
