So, I became curious when I saw a photo of this on an estate sale listing near me. It didn't grab me, so I didn't rush out there on Friday. However, errands I needed to run on Saturday took me very near the location, so I decided to check it out. A $16 price tag, with a 50% discount due to the sale's final day, I plugged it in, and it turned on and worked. Add to that a near-full ream of Southworth Typing Paper, and I thought, 'What the hell?' I mean, what else are they going to do with it? Pitch it? Couldn't have that.
In researching it for this entry, it seems to have a bad reputation in the typewriting community. Because my office is configured in such a way that plugging in an electric is not feasible, it looks like it may become the machine for demonstration and play for the grandkids.

Attorney and Writer, I'm rediscovering writing with a typewriter from back in my high school and college days. I've dedicated a page on my website to Typewritten Pages - one-page writings typed then scanned into a .jpg to post on my site - www.DoHaeng.com.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Coronamatic Coronet XL on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Coronamatic Coronet XL By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
