Description:
Before buying this online for a pittance, I really thought this was a small portable one. It turned out to be a cross between a portable and an office desktop one in terms of size. But it is light despite its hugeness. It's a dual language version, with both English is capital letters and katakana, one of the three type of written texts used in Japan (the others are kanji (Chinese characters) and hiragana.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Studio 46 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Studio 46 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
