Description:
And... another one?!
The fourth Lettera 32 at home, and the third one I got for free (the one I paid for was 0,50 ā¬).
This is anothr case of IĀ“m-gonna-thrash-it-do-you-want-it-or-not, so I said oh, yes, please, I want it! Another nice present, and this one came from Meri. Thanks a lot!
This one has seen little and bad maintenance at the same time. The case zipper needs heavy repairs and the worst thing is what someone did with the ribbon spool. Olivettis are picky with the spools and they donĀ“t work if you lose the nuts that hold the spools in place. In this case thereĀ“s no nut, and the spool has been replaced with someting incompatible, so the ribbon only winds one way (towards the original spool). IĀ“ll replace it, and I hope thatĀ“s enough.
As for the typewriter itself, it has a nice futuristic typeface and itĀ“s pretty much like any other Lettera 32: quite good and pointing towards really good.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.
A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Lettera 32 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Lettera 32 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
