Description:
Got it with 18 type balls in 2-drawer case. Happily enough, the owner gave it to me because the flaky switch made it too frustrating for her to use anymore; this was the bonus I got from her along with the 25¢ olivetti 36. The on-switch was flaky and is repaired now, by cleaning the switch, so the whole typewriter works, my only working Selectric.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Selectric II on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Selectric II By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
