1979 Addo 621 Serial # 9489503 1979 Addo 621 typewriter, Serial # 9489503 Kewin Sanfridsson's 1979 Addo 621 typewriter. 2024-10-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kewin Sanfridsson: 1979 Addo 621 Serial # 9489503 Here we got another typical mustard-yellow typewriter of the brand Addo, in other words a rebranded Facit 1620/Privat.

I have already uploaded other typewriters of the Facit Privat under the names Addo, Ericsson and Facit before onto here. But we need to archive them right? And this one is in such pristine condition as well, you can even feel the original texture on the keys just like when these were new. And let me tell you they sure feels wonderful to type on! As usual with the 1620, it suffered from the infamous Frozen Facit Syndrome but after some time tinkering with with it, it started to move quite fluently. But it wasn't as stuck as the 1620 usually is and it make sense judging the rest of the grease in the machine, I would say it wasn't all too long since someone re-greased it. Then to my surprise when I were just about to start cleaning every type slugs was stuck like boot in concreate! Later after a lot of sewing oil and monotonously manually moving the type slugs like a billion times. Then every one of them moved effortlessly, or maybe not effortlessly I still had to press the key of course!😆 But at least the ribbon spools hadn't frozen as I have stumbled upon with other 1620 before, I really dislike trying to pry off the locking spacers on the ribbon spools though cleaning them is quite fun!
I think I might have a 10/10 Addo here. No noticeable wear from typing on it and no paint chipping to speak of at all and everything work wonderfully mechanically speaking. Except every now and again the first or first and second character end up typed just a tiny bit higher up maybe a 1mm or so than the rest of the line. But it don't bother me as much as the wear on the platen towards the edge where the cog of the platen is located. I don't make any difference but now that I've seen it I cannot unsee it! Otherwise there isn't any more to say about it other than it feels mush less mushy than my other 1620/Privat which makes it quite comfortable to type on indeed. Oh and the case is so beautiful! At first I was a bit skeptical about it but I think this is my new favorite Facit 1620/Privat case I have seen ever! The colouration of the leather and the locks are so pleasing.

Cheers!

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 24 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 95* of them (4 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!
