Description:
Thrift store find, the ribbon seems to be coming back to life as I type away on it, so perhaps a typing sample will be possible in time. From the outset this seems like one of the best daisy wheels I've used. Used to be a different Royal, the Signet 20, which had a clickier, IBM-esque keyboard. This machine feels like it's from the old world of the Selectric, with a visible margin progression, complete with cool red light, and a chunky body and keyboard with none of the extra programming features of later models. The biggest win for me is that the delay between key press and letter on page is almost none, finally!

I'm a high school English teacher. Whenever I have to teach my students how to format a paper, I unleash a flock of Charger 11's at them! (they love it). I am most interested in the Brother brand, but I dabble in any and all machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal (Nakajima) Alpha 2001 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal (Nakajima) Serial Number page and the Royal (Nakajima) Alpha 2001 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
