Description:
I gonna call the machine for what it states on the ribbon hood "Daro" even though the model seem to resemble the Erika 100/105/127 models instead of the other machines with a Daro badge here on TWDB. But I could almost bet that the Daro line of machines is a collective name for a bunch of different machines to sell more typewriters, like a selling strategy? A new model of a thing is more probable to sell than a old model right? Maybe machines out of remaining parts left from previous models? I'm just guessing here but please feel free to enlighten me on the matter if you know more!
Anyways. The Daro is a good machine, it types very well and straight. Maybe a bit mediocre or simple typeface but it's really easy to read it. I really like typing on it but sadly as you can see on the pictures in bares a German keyboard I believe. This means no letter "Ă
" which makes it hard to write coherent sentences in my main language. But I can still write English though. But be aware the letter "Y" and "Z" have switched places. It also got the 4-way ribbon colour selector. I still haven't gotten around to see if there are ribbons with 3 different colour yet but I saw someone else write about another Erika it could be used to write letters with dual colour (black on top and red on bottom), could be cool but not so useful though if that's the case for the lever. Back in 2022 I got a Optima, I believe and if my memory serves me right Erika wasn't sold here in Sweden but Optima was, a subsidiary to Erika? So even though this Daro together with another Erika I I got at the same time is the first Erikas by name I have actually owned a Erika since 2022. Funny.
Cheers!

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 24 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 95* of them (4 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Erika Daro on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Erika Serial Number page and the Erika Daro By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
