Description:
I purchased this on Ebay for $26 total. It seems to be somewhat of an enigma at this point. I haven't come across this specific model online. It has a Singapore brand on the backplate, and note that it does have the 'SCM' logo as well. According to wikipedia the Singapore factory opened in 1973, so that is the date I'll attach to this typer.
It has two rubber handled grips on either side of the basket that are spring loaded, yet screwed into place. Since this machine types with a script font, is it possible it was designed to accommodate an interchangeable basket?
Aside from a sticky '4' key and a non-functioning backspace key, this thing feels great. The motor is constantly turning, so I daren't leave it on when I myself am idle.
