1975 Royal Custom III Serial # CB9017280 1975 Royal Custom III typewriter, Serial # CB9017280 Sarah Keller's 1975 Royal Custom III typewriter. 2020-01-19 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Sarah Keller: 1975 Royal Custom III Serial # CB9017280 This is the first typewriter I bought for myself. Purchased in 2013 on eBay. Which mostly means that I seriously over-payed even before the shipping for a 12+ lbs. machine (plus case!) to Canada. She is a snappy typer though and was quite clean other than some accumulated dust and a couple of minor cosmetic issues (scratch on the bottom of the left side that wasn't visible in auction pics, and the front panel "Royal" peeling off).

I've never figured out how to use the 'Magic Margins', mostly because I was distracted by my second typewriter purchase. Not sure what it is about typewriters, but they seem to attract other typewriters...

Serial number. It's difficult to read the engraving in the photo because it is difficult to read in person! Bit of a fail on the first digit but I'm pretty sure it's "9".

My typewriter addiction started in about 2013 after I joined a snailmail-swap group online and felt I had an excuse to buy one. I didn't intend to have a collection...it just kinda happened! Hoping to learn more about my current collection, and repair some of the issues with a few of the (as-is) purchases.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Custom III on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Custom III By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
