Today was my lucky day. I walked into an estate sale in Sterling, Virginia on the last day of the sale - half price day - and this groovy ORANGE beauty was just waiting for me, complete with case and the original manual, purchase-dated guarantee, and other case candy. It was purchased in London on August 26, 1975. The previous owner was Christina Beyer, a poet. It just needed a new ribbon and has a nice snappy feel to it. The serial number is under the right side of the carriage.

I am a librarian, artist, writer, and co-author of the book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries (The History Press, 2023). If I'm working on a book or article for publication, I'm on a computer. However, I use my typewriters to create poems, type-doodles, and to write snail mail letters. The tactile nature of typing on a manual machine works some kind of detox magic in this digital age. Each vintage typewriter has a soul and a story. Currently my collection is centered around midcentury models.
