Description:
This last version of the Hermes 3000 (designated HP-2/71) doesn’t seem to get much love from collectrors, but that’s a bit unfair. It has its charms. Yes, it’s shell is plastic and it is made in Hungary. The build quality is admittedly not as good as its predecessors but it is by no means cheap and flimsy. It’s a great typer, a bit looser and freer than my other H3Ks, and it glides smoother and faster than the others. It’s the one I pull off the shelf for pure H3K typing fun. The styling is...distinctive.
Looks like my crappy ribbon is creating a five o’clock shadow across the cool techno elite type sample.
The speckle patterns on the panel above the keys in the photos is reflections of the trees in my backyard, not spots on the typewriter.

Collecting typewriters off and on for 25 years, more "on" the last couple years. Meshes well with my other collecting hobby, fountain pens. Typewriters seem to find me, I don't have to look for them. First there are a couple, then 10, then 20, then 50...its getting out of hand.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 3000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 3000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
