Description:
Another, and another, and another.
Ah well here we are again with yet a Facit Privat from my collection. It's my only Facit Privat to have three things which non of the other ones got.
1. A plate stating "Facit Privat" on the top of the ribbon hood instead of a "Facit" badge on the front of it, like how the 1620 has it. To be honest it feels kind a odd to look at it without the familiar "Facit" badge on the front almost like looking like a sci-fi space helmet or something.
2. A pair of new updated platen knobs! Probably to uniform Facit's design language. As the electric Facit 1840/1845 also have which came out around the same time. The Privat/1620 got this change in 1975-76 to my knowledge.
3. And last but not least, what I probably should have mentioned at the start. The Lime-Green colour just beaming right into ones eyes! Such a odd choice of colour nothing like other typewriters at all. It do really makes the Privat stand out in any office environment, no it stands out anywhere it is anything other than plain like the Privat usually feels with it's white-beige colour. I have been looking for a Privat in this colour for such a long time and never thought I would be able to get hold of one for even close to a reasonable prize but I finally got one! Now it's only the dark/coffe-brown variety left of the Facit Privat to acquire for the collection .
What else can I say about the Privat/1620 which I haven't already mentioned in earlier galleries? Maybe a question. I wonder if they might have changed something else in 1975-76 with the Privat/1620. When I opened up this Privat I to fix the Frozen Facit Syndrome I didn't notice anything odd, although I don't remember if my other Privat's looked any different than this one or my Addo 621's (Facit rebrands). Well let me explain. When taking it out for a test spin 😆 I noticed that when I accidentally typed past the margin, I hit a stop and it locked up like it should but when returning the carriage to start on the line underneath then it wouldn't let me advance neither with the spacebar nor the alphanumerical keyboard. But when I pressed the backspace and then it fell into position so to speak and what I am guess the mechanism interlocked again. What I am assuming happened is when I hit the physical stop then it hindered the mechanism to fall into place like it should've and by pressing the return key then it moves the mechanism again and gives it a second try when the space is opened. Like when accidentally getting caught in a door or something similar. This is just me speculating here at the keyboard of my computer. But it's weird because I don't remember my older Privat's doing this but I might be wrong and will have to check I I remember.
Anyways, cheers! Happy collecting and typing!

Hi my name is Kewin and I'm a 24 years old from Sweden. I have a few hobbies like drawing and playing guitar but I do also like myself some project here and there which is where my interest in typewriters fits in. I have always collected things through my life but I did not expect typewriters to be my next big passion in collecting. I started collecting typewriters in the beginning of 2022 and so far I have 95* of them (4 of which is currently disassembled) . I find it really enjoyable to pickup a typewriter at a thrift store/second hand and starting to clean it up and get it to a working condition to the best of my ability and knowledge. (Excuse all the dog hairs in my pictures, I do actually try to remove the hair before taking the pictures. xD) Cheers!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Facit Privat on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Facit Serial Number page and the Facit Privat By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
