Description:
This is the very typewriter I used to type school reports on back in the 1980s. After replacing the belt with one from MarVac, cleaning out the lubricants, it happily came back to life and typed as well as it did 45 years ago.
While disassembling it for cleaning, I was very worried about breaking the half-century old plastic shell (now likely more brittle than it once was). I wasn't sure where the clips were and fumbled about very cautiously. To hopefully make other owner's lives a little easier, I've included pictures showing where the clips are. It seems best to work from the back to the front. (I later discovered that is exactly what the Typewriter Bible for the JP-8 recommends).
