1974 Olympia SM9 Serial # 4646025 1974 Olympia SM9 typewriter, Serial # 4646025 Amanda Wood's 1974 Olympia SM9 typewriter. 2025-04-04 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Amanda Wood: 1974 Olympia SM9 Serial # 4646025 $9.99 at my local Goodwill :) With case. This era is not my favorite for looks (and this one is scratched on the front plates + has numbers scratched in the sides), but it was great to find in the wild. I love how my SM7 types, so I figured it would almost certainly be worth the price tag. When I looked closer and saw the Script No. 69 typeface (11 pitch)? SOLD. Brought it home expecting some clean up needed; turns out it was good to go exactly as it was after the dried up ribbon was swapped. I opted for a black/hot pink to add a little fun to the otherwise underwhelming look. May not be my favorite to look at, but the output makes me very happy.

First typewriter bought in 6/2023, now at over 30 in my collection with most recorded in the galleries. There's a special place in my heart for Smith-Coronas, blue typewriters, and typewriters from 1964 (my parents' birth year). Prefer manuals to electrics, portables to ultra portables or desktops, but will head home with anything if it's cheap enough and functional/repairable. I've successfully gifted typewriters to two siblings, a best friend, and an in-law. Keeping up with my lifelong tradition of making and repairing by hand. When not typing or working on a typewriter, I'm often reading, gardening (vegetable), preserving harvests (canning, dehydrating, freezing), knitting, sewing, writing letters/short stories, or shooting film photography. I like the slow, analog life.
