Description:
I'm not sure about the date on this as the serial number reference on this site doesn't seem to go up this high. I assume that it was manufactured around 1975. I managed to get a 'seized up' unit for cheap on eBay with the leather "made in Sweden" case and manual. It appears to have had very little use.
Type-face appears to be PICA Esquire (10 pitch).
After a clean and quick service, it appears to be a very smooth machine. There was a somewhat rusted "Facit 1620" label mounted to the front which I removed and may add back later -- but I'm tempted to keep it as it is (a much sleeker and clean look). Good news for those who get this, naptha/lighter-fluid can be used on the crinkle finish as it appears to be some kind of powder coating. Test on yours first, but it was fine for cleaning this model.
This example has the 13" wide platten so you can write landscape - but it seems to have some issue with its tabulation system. I can reset tabs, but I can't seem to set them (in either mode). Will have to take it apart and investigate further, but I presume something else has seized up and will need to have the old grease flushed and re-oiled.

Keen on bashing the odd word down, and owner of more than four typewriters...
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Facit 1620 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Facit Serial Number page and the Facit 1620 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
