Description:
Seventh typewriter in my collection. I'm not sure I'm into the 70's look of this typewriter, but I bought it as it was built when I was born. Feels more 'mass-produced' than the older typewriters - everything seems to shake more when typing. The function is flawless, it just feels like the manufacturers figured out the important parts to the functioning, and cheaped out on anything that is not critical to function.
This one seems to have two keys that can be swapped out - in this model is has the 1/! and =/+, but I have seen other examples with other characters. I may keep this one just in case I run into additional swappable characters.
The case is in fair shape, but unfortunately it looks like the latch was damaged in order to open it - it seems to be locked, and the key is nowhere to be found. It still latches, but only with one of the two prongs, so I would not be confident walking around with this case.
Another acquisition from Goodwill online auction. Shipped out of Southern Nevada.

Relatively new to collecting. Would like to document my collection.
Planning on sticking to full-sized American machines so I don't spend too much on fancy European portables.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Galaxie Twelve on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Galaxie Twelve By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
