Description:
Ohio antique mall purchase. Excellent machine, types well. Came with good ribbon, an extra ribbon, cleaning brush, case, manual and brochures. The owner printed his/her last name in magic marker and also etched a number in the upper left--probably for anti-theft purposes. One brochure showed all sorts of changeable type for special functions. I already had a Classic 12 but ths one was in excellent shape and very reasonable price so I decided it was good to have 2 good machines down he road.
Not sure what the "H" suffix is on the end of the SN.
I have a 1971 Classic 12 SN 339558 but no suffix.

Changed my collecting priorities to portables except the Olympia SG3 with the cyrillic keyboard and my Underwood No. 5--those beasts are too heavy. Sold my earlier typewriters to a friend. I had too many. I use carbon paper for typefaces when the machines have faint ribbons. I take photos with my Canon Powershot SX50HS (50x optical zoom and macro settings). I find it difficult doing typeface specimens since I use a Corsair K70 RGB gaming keyboard plugged into my 15-in Macbook. I got it solely for the deep key travel. I have fun hunting machines in antique malls in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
