Description:
I'd found this Facit at a local antique store, essentially in the nosebleed section of their attic. It was cheap, and included the keys and the cover. It'd taken me a few months to actually have the time to clean it up and get it working again, so it was put on the back burner.
Towards the end of 2023 I had a Saturday free and got to it. This was easily the most locked-up machine I've worked on to date. "Frozen Facit" is no joke. Half of the keys wouldn't move, and the escapement was completely stuck solid. However, after flushing the type basket and removing and cleaning the escapement, it's actually a wonderful machine to use.
This typeface is what Facit calls "Elite Cube" which I'm a fan of.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Facit 1620 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Facit Serial Number page and the Facit 1620 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
