Manufacturer Code 704 designates "Royal"
Typewriter made in Japan, fitted plastic case has "Made in Japan" molded into the plastic
No paperwork, found at local thrift store.
Pica typeface, most slugs with casting number 105 with the "AR" below. RaRo 105 is not listed in the 1970 catalog.
Uses universal ribbon spool. Has bichrome select switch.
Works well, nice keyboard feel, manual return works well. Build quality is very light, but fit and finish of parts is typical Japan quality.
Return advance selectable to single, one-and-onehalf space, or double space.
Location of serial number is below the left ribbon reverse arm, stamped into metal support, can be seen from directly above machine.
Manufacture factory unknown but not Brother. General look of parts and mechanism is likely late 1970s but possibly early 1980s
Measured platen rubber 12 inches exactly. Good rollers.
Of note is the very quiet when switched on. One photo with shell removed to show motor drive belt, looks to be silicone.
