1972 Olivetti Lettera 32 Serial # 1197765 1972 Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter, Serial # 1197765 Germano Peres's 1972 Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter. 2022-09-22 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Germano Peres: 1972 Olivetti Lettera 32 Serial # 1197765 I'm not an Olivetti lover, but my girlfriend wants this Lettera 32. An little Italian classic and loved by girls, like the Fiat 600 but very difficult to find one in my country in good condition and reasonable price. A pity that for the special colors made for Brazil, like coral red and lime green.

In my last vacations in Argentina (Yes! there has Fiat 600 and a world of Olivettis) by a little search on the local Marketplace find this in excellent condition and very cheap, for only BRL 50 but in the original suitcase, in order of work and original paint at 99%. I needed only a new ribbon and little lubrication but a deep and carefully clean to remove the tar layer, because was from a heavy smoker.

I'ts my first experience with a Olivetti and i proved what they said: Olivetti is soft, Remington is HARD. Out of that, i think it's very funny and easy to take away in any backpack. I love the techno-fonts, and lucky for me cames in Quadratto 12cpi. We named it Fiorella, a nice Italian name.

I don't know about the Mexican Olivetti serials, but i find a image of a warranty card of another machine with slightly lower serial sold in Argentina in mid '73, but the factory warranty expired on the last day of '72 and i assume it was produced on that year.

A tipically 80's Cold-War boy. Brazilian born in exile, with the time i was interested with my homeland, GDR and the Eastern Bloc technologies, but didn't have old enough to live this. I grown up with computers and never had more than marginal contact with typewriters in my childhood, my passion was growing along with mine Ostalgie and started my collection sometime ago when withdrew my father's older Erika from its long letargy.

Since 2023 i'm a Right student, in path to be a lawyer and that re-inforces my passion with typeriters. I prefer the 80's portable models.

I will try to get information about the world of Brazilian typewriters, mostly not known outside South America.
