Description:
Sears Portable. I had missed out on a chance to buy one of these awhile back, so when I saw one on sale locally I jumped at the opportunity. It has a similar body to the Olympia Traveller, but stripped of most of that machines features. Like the Olivetti Dora, this typewriter is a barebones writing machine.
With that said, it does have a great light touch and does type well. Its body is fully plastic, but it is clean and is well built. I'll be typing on this typewriter for years to come.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid. Born into an analog world, but grew up in a digital one.
My wife is a writer and I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining typewriters and she then gets to enjoy all of these machines!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sears Portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sears Serial Number page and the Sears Portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
