Description:
Sears sold a variety of Portuguese-made Messas in the early 1970s, including this Newport. Other typewirters in the line included the Malibu and Chevron.
What can be said of this line is that the machines in it are hideously ugly. The colors are awful. Worse, the plastic parts of the frame are flimsy, and the top, metal cover way is too heavy.
The Newport is the top end of the line, sporting a wide carriage.
