Description:
I thought this was a toy when I saw it on the yard sale table, especially as it was under a ColecoVision dust cover. I took it anyway and only as I was putting it into the car did I realize it is an Olivetti Dora (or a variant; the label is missing). The paper table really is textured like that.
Note that the bottom panel does not seal off the keyboard, so your cookie crumbs will not end up in the works! Thoughtful Olivetti design!

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti DORA on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti DORA By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
