Description:
I had heard that Facit typewriters, more than most, were prone to getting really gummed up and stuck. No kidding. This machine would not budge when I picked it up at a thrift store. Escapement completely stuck. Ribbon advance and ribbon reverse completely stuck. Other parts, while moving, were like tortoise slow. Great advice from Duane at Phoenix Typewriters - sometimes old lubricants have become SO solid that solvents cannot even penetrate to free them. HEAT THEM UP to break them free, THEN go at them with solvents. Sure enough, that did the trick.
